Central Ajax has, nearly every season, had a senior team. From the late 70s when the club was formed they had a senior team playing up at Central Hospital, Hatton. Now the club has a senior team in the highest league for 14 years, the Midland Football League 3. They play on a saturday afternoon and have high hopes for progressing through the MFL, a feat which wouldn't be possible if it wasn't for Sam Canty. He came in as not only Vice - Chairman of Ajax but as senior team manager. They started off in the Stratford Alliance 2 and finished the season in 2nd place. This was all with a makeshift team that Sam had drafted together to prepare for the season. With a lot of work behind the scenes, himself and a band of hard working members got the pitches and facilities up to a standard worthy of MFL standards. Nervy times were ahead as we waited patiently for the news of which league we'd be entered into and the news came with jubilation! We were accepted into MFL 3! Ajax now boast one of the best senior pitches in the league and with the new sponsorship deal with Surridge and fantastic club sponsors of Onside Coaching and Mat Davis Foundation, Central Ajax FC really do look and play the part. The hard work Sam put in will never be forgotten, it was with a heavy heart he decided to step down from his management and vice-chairman role but he left the team in good hands. Two men who know the league inside out and have both played at good standards; Jon Beacham - Sharpe and Matt Wells. They know what the club is about, its ethos and its direction.
In the summer of 2018 it was with a heavy heart that Jon and Matt had to say goodbye. Their hard work and commitment was second to none. They galvanised the team and played some fantastic football. Ajax needed a new leader. Tom Coles and Rich Layton were up for the challenge! Two very experienced players within the leagues, something Ajax definitely needed. To this day Tom and Rich are still at the helm and Ajax are not only playing a very attractive style of play but are creating something special in the camp.
